Central Iowa Music Lab Lesson Policy

Private Music Lessons: Music lessons at Central Iowa Music Lab (CIML) are in session year round. Lessons are available to all ages and levels, and no prior experience or auditions are required. Instruction is available for Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums/Percussion, Piano, Violin, Voice, Rock Band, Songwriting, and Music Theory.

New Student Registration: There is no registration fee for all new students. Registration for new students can occur at any point within the month, with the monthly lesson rate being pro-rated through the end of the month. Tuition and Fees: Private, one-on-one instruction is as priced as follows: $100.00/month for one half-hour lesson once a week. $50.00/month for one half-hour lesson every other week.

Rock Band classes: $150.00 per student. This is for one 8-week session followed by a Final Concert at the end of each session. Contact us or ask a CIML instructor for more information.

Price breaks are available for students wishing to pay for lessons in a 3- or 6-month block.

If a student enrolls mid-month, the lesson fee is pro-rated at the rate of $20.00 per half-hour lesson through the end of the enrollment month. There are no refunds of lesson payments.

Lessons are paid for at the first lesson of each month (with the exception of 3- or 6-month block payments.) Lesson fees not paid by the second lesson of the month are subject to a $10.00 late fee for each week that the payment is past due.

Missed Lessons/Absences: When a lesson is missed due to an instructor’s absence, the student is scheduled for a make-up lesson; the student will be credited $20.00 per lesson if a make-up lesson cannot be scheduled due to the instructor’s absence. If the missed lesson is due to the student’s absence, a make-up lesson is given at the teacher’s discretion; due to the high volume of students, a make-up lesson is a possibility, but not to be expected. No make-up lessons will be given without 24 hours advance notice of an absence. As a courtesy, please notify the instructor in advance of any absence.

Lesson Cancellation: A 30-day notice must be given by the student (or parent of student) to the instructor when discontinuing lessons at CIML.

Leaves of Absence: In the case of an emergency, a leave of absence may be granted. If approved, credit may be given for the missed lessons. Students must notify the instructor at least 24 hours prior to their scheduled lesson for a credit to be considered.
